Detailed Rolled Rose Valentine Wreath

Last week I was a guest designer at Passionately Artistic sharing my Valentine rolled rose wreath. I wanted to post this on my blog too but didn't get a chance till now as things have been so crazy with Blog Hops,  Design Teams, etc.  So here it is.
Today I am sharing   a project for Valentines Day.  Recently Provo Craft came out with an Art Philosophy Cart that is amazing.  I love making the rolled flowers. There are three different rolled flower shapes on the cartridge which I used to make this wreath.  The cuts are found on page 68, 69 and 70.  I cut them at 2.75 inches so I can get 16 on  a page.  If you don't have a Cricut keep reading and I will show you how to make the same flowers without a Cricut.
So here is my finished wreath.
Closeup of roses and ribbon.
Another closeup.
This wreath started with a 12 inch straw wreath which I wrap with ribbon.
This is what the cut shapes look like when they are cut out.
For this wreath I used double sided K and Company paper.
You will need a Quilling tool which cost a few bucks at your local craft store.  You catch the edge with the prongs and roll the flower to form the rose.
In this picture I am showing if you roll away from you what the three roses look like and if you roll towards you what they will look like with the same paper.
Now if you don't have a Cricut you can hand draw the shape.  It doesn't have to be perfect.
I also love to make these with book pages or dictionaries I get at the Dollar Store.  When I hand cut book pages I do three at a time.
Here are some finished flowers from scrapbook paper, book pages and dictionary pages.  The size depends on how loosely or tightly you glue them.  These are so cute on cards, layouts, altered crafts, etc.
Here are a couple other examples I made using the same technique.
Another wreath made with double sided Christmas paper but could definitely be left up all year.
A rose covered press board monogram. I made these for gifts and they were a big hit.

FCCB 3 inch Valentine

It's Monday again and time for another Fantabulous Cricut Challenge.  I for one can not believe that January is almost over.  I guess I am having too much fun as time is flying by fast.
This week the challenge is to make a 3 x 3  Valentine.
This is the card I designed using Elegant Edges and Rock Princess.
I used Bazzil cardstock and a scrap of music paper you can see behind the rose and inside.
These are great cards to make to use some of your scraps.
The card was cut at 3 x 6 inches and folded.  I then cut the frame on the front two times in white at 3 inches and the shadow layer in pink one time.  I pop dotted the white frames to give it more dimension.
The Rose is from Rock Princess page 49 and was cut at 2 inches.  There are four different layers.  I added Stickles and some twine.
I used a $1 stamp on the inside and a little rose and heart from
K and Company Valentine embellishment bag.  The heart is pop dotted.
I hope all the DT projects have inspired you to join us this week for the FCCB challenge.
All the DT inspiration is posted today and you have until Saturday to enter.   I can't wait to see what everyone creates for this cute little mini Valentine challenge.  Happy Craftin.

Lasting Memories Trash Challenge

Wow is all I can say about last week. I made it through my very first Blog Hop for my one year Blogaversary (thanks to all my Cricut Friends)  and was so blessed.  So many wonderful ladies participated with their wonderful creative projects including many of this great Lasting Memories team.  Thanks so much ladies!  Also a big thank you to all of you who stopped by and left your lovely comments which so encourages us all.  We wouldn't keep going without you.

Last week you all rocked out the "Recipe Challenge". How fun to get new layout ideas as well as some great recipes.   It is so fun to see what everyone creates.   I can't wait to see the entries each and every week.

Now onto this weeks challenge at Lasting Memories.   We're asking you to "Trash Those Layouts"!!! What the heck does that mean?? We want to see how you use your scraps or maybe even recycled items on your layouts. Should be interesting!! Can't wait to see what you create!! Come back tmw for our DT Inspiration post!!! Happy scrappin'!!!

I had so much fun with this layout.  I have had this cute little picture of my oldest granddaughter for awhile.  This is a picture of her having her first Chinese Noodles for Mommy's birthday dinner.  Hard to see but she has a chopstick in her hand.

 I had a piece of 8 x 8 cardboard from a packing box.
I tore off most of the top thin paper layer leaving some torn pieces on.  The pieces I tore off I crumpled  and then laid everything out and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist.  I used Suede, Blue Bottom Jean, and Pomegranate.   I cut 2 tiny strips off the piece once it dried.  I used Tim Holtz paper for my background.
Then I laid everything out and moved it around till I liked it.  I used twine for the bow.  Some leftover chipboard letters I also sprayed for the yum title.  Th  I had a e Katie letters were from a Tim Holtz letter page.   I have used alot of the letters so was surprised when I found the letters to spell her name.  The strips on the bottom are ATG used tape that I misted and wrote on with a Sharpie.

Hope you enjoyed my layouts!
We also have another awesome giveaway this week!! Elizabeth is hosting this weeks prize, check this out!!!
I don't know about you but I can never get enough Tim Holtz goodies.
Also, if you need a little more inspiration, try out our sketch from PageMaps!! Just a reminder - in order to qualify for our challenge/giveaway, you MUSTfollow our challenge!! You're welcome to incorporate the sketch WITH the challenge or if you'd like to just use the sketch, please do and leave us a comment so we can come and see what you did with it!!!
Love this sketch because it makes me think of Spring and I love multi photo layouts.

The shoe was made from the Cricut cart Princess Party and was cut at 7.5 inches which is the largest you can cut it with 12 x 12 paper.  The zebra paper I used was from DCWV Textures and Finishes stack.
The roses were cut at 2 inches from Art Philosophy and the Love phrase is from the Phrases  Cricut cart page 36 at 3 inches.  I then added MS punch leaves , gems, Stickles, Glossy Accents on the leaves and ribbon to finish off my project.

For the hop today, I've created .......I used the monthly DCWV sketch for this layout and am entering it in the January stackaholic sketch challenge. Everything on these pages except for the pictures and the piece of twine came from the DCWV Heirloom Stack.  I inked the edges with Quick Quotes chalk.  The words Family, sweet and the xoxo were from a page of tags in the stack.  I glued these to a piece of chipboard, cut them out and inked them.  I used Elegant Edges for the Scalloped squares for the banner.

Again all the words came from a page in the DCWV Heirloom stack.  I cut "You make me Happy" into pieces.
Closeup of banner.

Here is the DCWV sketch.

Thank you again for checking out my project...  Now below you will find the project my Cricut Message board friend  Cindy made to  help me celebrate.  Cindy doesn't have a blog so I am posting it here on my blog.  I hope you will leave her some blog love too.  This is Cindy's A2 card:

It's a Beautiful World Sweet Sassy Diva Scene Challenge

Hello Sassy Diva followers.  This week the DT was asked to create a scene of any theme.  I was organizing  a big pile of pictures and came across these adorable pics of my eldest granddaughter Katie at the park playing with her dad and then at the lake where we all went to feed the ducks.  For my scene I decided to use the Cricut Cartridge  Give a Hoot which I had not used yet even though I have had it for quite awhile.  I took pictures while working on the layout but they have seemed to disappear.  I do have the recipe however.
Here is the complete two page layout
The paper I used was an old stack by We R Memory Keepers called Rainbow.
For the first page the sun was cut from page 64 at 4 inches for all 3 layers.
The squirrels were cut from page 52 at 4 inches.  They are one piece and I cut them apart to place the picture in the middle.
The grass was cut from page 65 at 1 1/2 inches (cut 5 times to cover both pages)
Beautiful World was cut from page 36 at 3 3/4 inches and cut apart so I could use title on both pages.
Used MS flower border punch and green ribbon from stash
Squirrels and sun embossed
Punched out flowers (Fiskar punch) and hand cut flowers from paper to add to grass

The tree was cut from page 67 at 5 inches and embossed.   There are 3 layers.
Bird nest page 36 cut at 1 inch.
Duck and pond cut at 3 inches.
Closeups
Many of the edges and embossing are chalked with Quick Quotes Chalk Blue Hawaiian and Green Envy
Hope you enjoyed my layout and will come back all week to see the "Scenes" that the other DT members create.  We always welcome your comments.  Happy Craftin!
