THANKS MOM BLOG HOP- DAY 1 Altered Frames

Welcome to the THANKS MOM BLOG HOP. Thanks for joining us to enjoy all the wonderful crafty inspiration in honor of mother's everywhere from the talented designers.
You should have arrived here from the crafty Cindy's blog.  If you missed the beginning of the hop, please go back to the start of the hop at our wonderful hostess Debbie's blog  so you don't miss any of the projects. There is a Grand Prize Blog Candy offered so you want to start at the beginning and read how to participate to win.
I will also be having a random drawing for my blog candy on Tuesday May 10 in the morning. To win you need to leave a comment during the hop and become a follower.  If you leave a comment all 4 days you will have four chances to win.
The blog candy will be a $10 gift certificate from either Michael's or Joann's (your choice.)

Project Day 1- Altered Frames from Michaels for my daughters
My two daughters have blessed me with two granddaughters this past 15 months and a third will arrive in July.  I wanted to make something special for them.  I first saw these frames when a friend of mine Yvette in the One Hour Thread was making altered frames in December for Christmas presents.  These are only 4.99 and are just under 12 x 12.  They can be set on a table or hung on the wall.
The first thing I did was take some Acrylic paint and paint all the side edges including the top front edges.  I also painted around the glass edges.  The glass does not come out but can easily be scraped clean if you make a boo boo.  This makes it more finished.  For an even more finished look paint the back also.  Next I measured (twice to make sure) where the cut out should go and then cut out using my exacto knife and mat.  I then decorated  the page like I would an album page.

Paper used DCVW Ciao Bella  (Pink) and Mariposa (Blue)
Me and Mom comes from Just a Note
Flowers Scalloped Circles cut from Mother's Day Bouquet at 2 inches and 1 1/2 inches
Flowers are Stickled and sprayed with Glimmer MIst.
Swirls from Storybook
MS Punch for leaves
Paper lace, Stickles, Pearls, Prima Butterflies and other embellishments

Thanks for hopping along with us  and for your comments.  I will be posting a new project each day so please come back.  Remember, if you leave a comment on every designers blog hop post, your name will go into the drawing for the Blog Candy that our THANK MOM BLOG HOP hostess, Debbie, is offering as a Grand Prize.
Next up on the hop , is the talented Paula

This is the list of those participating in the blog hop in case you get lost.
