So many books so little time

I belong to the most amazing book club.  We get so immersed in the books,  We dress up for meetings,  Eat food from the countries in the story and play games and have little gifts.  In December we read Little Women and we were asked to each bring a present that was hand made by us.

It was so much fun seeing all the handmade goodies from all the wonderfully talented ladies.
There were knitted and crocheted things, homemade jams and bread, quilted baby blanket, and all sorts of other things.  For my handmade project I modpodged a black frame with old book pages and then cut out this cute little girl and quote from Silhouette America.  I cut it from paper and then modpodged it to the board.

Lasting Memories challenge- New Beginnings (First Day of School)

Here it is Sunday and time for another challenge at Lasting Memories.  We are still on the Theme New Beginnings. This week the focus is a New Life Event such as Marriage, Birth, Moving, New Job, New School, house, etc.
For my layout I used pics from the fist day of school when my 2nd granddaughter Kenzie started Transitional Kindergarten.  The hands, letters and title were cut from Silhouette America.  The paper was from my stash and the ribbon I believe from Michaels.
Check out the layouts the other designers at Lasting Memories created and join us this month for the challenges.
Happy Craftin!

Let's Scrap into the New Year 2016

Happy New Year to all of you as we start 2016.  As the holidays wind down I have tons of pictures to scrap and I am sure you do too.  Michele Van Wyk our lovely designer at Let's Scrap has come up with another great layout with room for lots of pictures.
I am sure we all have photos we need to get on layouts.
For this page I decided to use some scrapbook pages of my granddaughter at her recent ballet recital.  She is really loving taking classes.
I used some paper from my stash and followed the sketch.
All the photos were originally 4 x 6 but I was able to cut them to fit the various sizes.
The banner was done with a punch and the ballet title and shoes were cut from Silhouette America.
I apologize that the left side photo quality is terrible.  It is pale pink like the right side but
the light faded it out. I didn't realize until it was too late to correct.

I would love to have you check out what the other designers have created at Let's Scrap.  You will get so many great ideas.  Then get out those photos and play along.  We would love to see your creations.  You have till the 14th to link up and then we have a new sketch for you on the 15th.
Happy Craftin and Happy 2016.

Lasting Memories Home for the Holidays

This month at Lasting Memories we have several different but related challenges each week. We are sure you can find something to get your creative juices going.
Date When celebrated : Always December 3
Today is  National Roof Over Your Head Day. It is a day of appreciation for the things we have, starting with the roof over our heads. For most of us, a roof over our head signifies living in a house that protects us from the elements, keeping us warm, dry, and cozy. Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky as you and I. There are many homeless people right here in our country. Some people live in a cardboard box on the street...... literally. There are millions of people around the world who live in poverty or disaster areas, and do not have a home to keep them comfortable and safe. Spend a few minutes  being thankful that you are not homeless, and appreciating your roof and home today. Also make a contribution to a homeless shelter, so others can come in out of the rain.
Happy National Roof Over Your Head Day!
"National roof over your head day." -
Scrap about your home or someone elses home or any home in general. .
Or switch: Scrap about your home during the Holidays. Seeing Christmas lights would work.

I decided to scrap a layout for my home during the holidays.  We always strive to keep Christ in Christmas and celebrate the birth of Jesus our savior.  All the cuts are from Silhouette America.  The star paper was from my stash.  I also printed the verse from Luke 2:11 from Silhouette America.
I envision pics of the grandkids in their Christmas program at church, playing with the nativity figures reenacting the Christmas story or lighting the advent calendars for my picture.

So check out what all the designers created for you at Lasting Memories and join us for either challenge this month.

Lasting Memories Give thanks everyday

It's time for another "Thankful Challenge" for the month of November at Lasting Memories.

For this weeks challenge we have a photo inspiration which you can see below.
I used a Fall theme and some photos I had of granddaughters Katie and Brittany
at the pumpkin patch.  The titles, pumpkin with the word family, and
owl on a branch all came from Silhouette America.
I then added some little leaves and ribbon I had in my Fall stash.

Photo Inspiration

I hope you will check out the other designers project at Lasting Memories and join us for the challenge.  We have a challenge each Sunday and you have till the end of the month to complete all the challenges and link them up for that month.  Please join us and Happy Craftin!

Join Let's Scrap for a new challenge

Here it is the middle of November already and it is time for another
great sketch challenge at Let's Scrap
For this one I chose pictures of  my granddaughter Kenzie and grandson Micah this past Summer.
I took them to several events at the library to encourage reading.  At one of the programs they got to try on different hats and they had a blast and it made for some great pictures.
I used a paper kit from my stash which had coordinating colors.  I used a Silhouette America file which I enlarged to make the rays fit the 12 x 12 page.  I then took the pieces that were cut out to do the rays on the other side of the paper.  The title Good Times is also cut out from Silhouette America.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the border and several MS punches for the butterflies.
The flowers and branch punched stems were added to give dimension.
Here is the great sketch from Michelle Van Wyk. Please drop by Let's Scrap to see what the other designers have created.  They always inspire me with their amazing talents.   We would love to see your take on this challenge.  All you need to do is use the sketch and link up before the end of November.  Happy craftin!

Disney Bling layouts and the 60th Anniversary

I did these layouts awhile back so thought I would get them posted.  We have been going to Disneyland a lot since we have passes and it is the 60th anniversary.  For this reason I have tons of pics to get on pages.  Most of the words for the titles came from Silhouette America.
These pictures are from Disney's actual 60th birthday July 17,, 2015.

Here are the grandkids modeling 60th shirts and jackets with mommy.

And here we are at our last 60th Diamond event when we spent all night in the Disney Downtown parking lot getting our last Diamond Anniversary pin.

TBall Princess for new Let's Scrap Sketch challenge

It's the 15th of October so time for the mid month challenge at Let's Scrap.  Michelle van Wyk has created another great sketch with room for multiple photos.
For my layout I created a page of my Tball princess.  This was Kenzie's first year with Tball.
I loved the pics of her trying out her mitt with her Elsa wig and dress on.
For the banners I used the front cover page of a Simple Stories kit that shows what papers are in the kit.  They were the perfect width for the banner .  The T-ball I cut out with a plain font and the princess was from a title for Silhouette America.

Here is the awesome sketch by Michelle.  We would love to see you use this sketch as a jumping off point for your creation.  Also remember to check out what all the other designers have created and link it up before the end of the month at Let's Scrap.  Happy Craftin!

Lasting Memories Challenge- Hot drink with stencils

This week at Lasting Memories the challenge is to "Grab a hot drink and dig out those stencils!"  Use your stencils on your layout and showcasing a hot drink.
Now for me I have never been a coffee drinker.  I love the smell of hot coffee but just never aquired the taste.  However after my eldest daughter bought me a Hot Chai Tea on a cold day I was hooked.
I even named my two Ragdoll cats Chai Latte and Mocha Latte.
I love Chai hot and cold.  So every morning my sweet hubby makes me a Hot Chai  to take with me when I go over to tend to two of my grandkids at 6:30 in the morning.
When I get Kenzie and Micah can't wait until my drink cools off so they can each have a
sip.  So of course Grammy always has to be careful to leave a little for them.
For my layout I used the word Chai Tea from a Word Art I found on Silhouette America.  I picked the two word I needed out, enlarged and deleted all the rest. I also hand dot lined the edges to help them pop.  The cute cup was also from Silhouette America.  Then for my stencil I cut out the steam piece and used it as my stencil.  I placed  the square around my cut out on the page and added Pearl Pen to make  it look like the steam.  It looks much more realistic then the white cutout did.

Please check out all the amazing projects all the Design Team has created for you at Lasting Memories.  Then join us for the Sunday challenges.  You have all month to create a layout for each of the challenges.  We would love to see your creations.  Happy craftin!

Use Ink Splatters with mixed Alpha/Fonts Letters for Lasting Memories challenge

I had so much fun creating this layout for the Lasting Memories  #259 - September 13th -
Ink Splatters with mixed Alpha/Fonts
I dripped Ranger Alcohol inks on a white Bazzil sheet for my ink splatters.
I then used a title from Silhouette America which was different fonts for the title.
I cut the title apart for my layout and double matted it.
I also used some embellishments I had in my stash for awhile.
The pictures are of my grandson Micah when he started the 2's class last year.
He was always so excited about his art work.

Don't forget all the challenges at Lasting Memories are for the entire month so you still have time to try out the challenge from September 7th as well as this challenge.  We hope you will join us and get your creative juices going.  Check out what the rest of the design team created at Lasting Memories.

Lucky Charms layout done two ways

Going through sketches from various blogs I found some great ones to use
for my grandkids St. Patricks Day pictures.  I am finally using my Picturemate Photo Printer to make these smaller size pics for the first layout.
This page is for me and has all 4 grandkids on it.
I only had a few pages of St. Patrick's paper so started with that.
The 4 leaf clover and title Lucky Charms came from Silhouette America.
The little buttons are ones I bought for the kids to wear and then I added them to the page.
The green and copper flowers are from my stash.

This is the original sketch for the challenge at  Let's Capture Our Memories
created by Laura Whittaker.  Sketch 115
I turned the sketch sideways for the photos I wanted to use.

Check out the challenge here Let's Capture Our Memories
Sketch 115

I am also entering this on Rochelle Spears  Blog.
She is having a March Tic Tac Toe Challenge
I used the middle row going down-  Polka dot paper, Color Green and Something that sparkles.
The polka dot paper is under the music staff.
There is sparkly glitter on the journal piece, the music staff and the  other small pieces of paper.

I also did a page for my daughter with a two photo sketch from
Rochelle Spears at Sketches in Thyme
I used the same title and shamrocks from the first page  but added
the little Leprechaun from Silhouette America.
I added ribbon across the bottom and some gems

This is the original sketch
And I turned it sideways too.

Layouts and challenges OH MY!

What better way to get some pages done and spark your creativity than to find some great great challenges.
The first challenge  I used for these layouts was
Picture This 2 Photos + dark background + butterfly
Well for two pictures I found this sketch from Sketch N Scrap  Sketch 76,
I found these two adorable pictures of my granddaughter Brittany who is 3.
I choose a brought flower paper which had some black in it to match to pop against the black background.  The pink and blue punched pieces were done using Martha Stewart Punches.  I used the cutoff edge of tiny flowers down on the bottom of the page.  Added a bright pink doily, some inked chipboard butterflies and fussy cut flowers from the paper.  These are pop dotted in two layers to give dimension  The title smile is in black from Silhouette America and I then offset it in white.  The last little added touch is a pink butterfly paper clip.

This sketch is by Lisa Hidy for Sketch N Scrap  Sketch 76

For the second page since I like double pages most of the time I found a three picture sketch at
I liked the polka dot border of the sketch so I found some white with black polka dot paper and then mounted a piece of Black Bazzil to it.  Next I used the backside of the flower paper I used in the first layout.  Cutting on the border lines to make the top edge and the flowers where the arrows are.  I then found some cute journaling cards and word stickers for the thoughts card and the title.  The flowers are again fussy cut from the paper and some are pop dotted for dimension
Here is the lovely sketch from Page Maps at Let's Capture Our Memories- Sketch 113

So now I have an adorable two page matching layout using two different sketches
and some fun paper.
Thanks for looking and would love to hear your comments.
