Banner made with Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells

Wow I guess I took a two week break from blogging without even planning it.  :)   I have been crazy busy with the Southern California Shop Hop, teaching classes, two mini vacations and other projects.  I have been scrapbooking too so need to get busy and start posting things on my blog again.  So I want to start out with a project I have done for a class at my local scrapbook store.  I used the new Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells to create  a Halloween Banner.  I used the Cricut Cart Pretty Pennants for the basic shapes and the Tim Holtz rosette maker for the rosettes.  The letters are cut from Kate's ABC.
In the back you can also see a banner I made for the store for Shop Hop.
Here is the banner hanging in the store.

Day 25 of 25 My Paper Crafting-Jesus

Wow we made it through the 25 days of Christmas and Year 'Round Crafting Showcase at My Paper Crafting.    There have been so many wonderful projects by all the creative ladies. I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful group of talented women.   I also want to say a big thank you to Melin for all her wonderful creations that she has given away these 25 days.
For my project today I used A quilted Christmas, Kate's ABC and New Testament.  I used burlap on the easel card to give it texture and embossed the straw.
I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas with family and friends celebrating the true reason for
Christmas.  Don't forget to leave "Christ" in Christmas.

Katie's First Haircut LO- for two challenges

Today I am sharing a layout I did over the weekend for Child's Play .  The challenge is to use the game of  "Life" as your inspiration.  Now I know that doesn't mean I have to take it literally but I had a lot of fun doing that.  I also had in mind to use these pictures for the Cricut Circle Monthly Challenge Milestones and Memories.  The pictures are of my oldest granddaughter getting her first haircut at my friends house with her family all there.
I thought these two challenges went perfectly together.
I used the box as my inspirations rather than the game.

Here is the inspirations photo from "Child's Play.

Recipe:
Title cut from Plantin Schoolbook Cricut Cart Life at 1.5 inches/shadow 1.5 inches
Katie's first haircut and Family affair cut at 1 inch from Kate's ABC
Brush and comb cut at 5 inches from Slumber Party cartridge
Dryer cut at 4 inches from Paisley cartridge

Cricut Circle Weekly Challenge -Sketch

The Cricut Circle Challenge  this week is a sketch challenge.
I decided to do a layout using the sketch and some Easter pictures.
This is the first Easter Egg hunt we have had for our 3 granddaughters.
I used Kate's ABC for the title cut at 1 inch.
The basket  and eggs are  from Doodlecharms  cut at 4 inches and embossed with the Cuttlebug.
The journal shapes are both from Elegant Edges cut at 2.5 inches.
This is the page following the sketch from the Cricut Circle

"What a Year" -either year in review or resolutions for Sweet Sassy Diva

So hard to believe it is 2012.  For the Sweet Sassy Diva Design Team Challenge this week we were to either make a project reviewing 2011 or  resolutions for 2012. Since I don't really do resolutions  I decided to make a scrapbook page reviewing 2011.  I wanted to share  how blessed I feel to have 3 sweet granddaughters. There is nothing better in the world right now than spending time with my sweet girls.  So for my page  I went through and picked some pics I liked  from the past year and printed them on my computer (which I believe is a 2 x 3 size.)  This was a lot  of fun and really brought back some memories.  For the background paper I used a sheet from  Tim Holtz Seasons Stack.
By the way I got a new "good" camera for Christmas so hope my pictures will be better.  For now it is a learning process.  LOL
Here is the paper.
Here is the collage I made.
Then I cut out the title using my E2 and more Tim Holtz paper.  The Blessings title I found on Inspired Heart and I cut the title and the shadow at 2.4 so it would fit on the 12 " page.   I used Kate's ABC and cut 2011 at 1.5 page.    I taped the paper down with blue painters tape since my mat is really old.
Next I took my chalks and chalked the edges of the shadow cuts as I didn't want the white edging to show.
I also decided to add a little bling so I cut pieces from these beaded swirls
This is what the title ended up looking like with the added beads.  I also cut pieces and added beads to the letters 2011 to make them stand out more.
I hope you have enjoyed this project and will leave a comment.  Wishing you all a Happy, healthy, crafty 2012.  Please come back to Sweet Sassy Diva  all week to see the other projects the DT creates.

Same pictures two different layouts

Today I worked on some layout challenges.   I started with Stuck on U Sketches  with this layout.  The sketch is what I followed for the  page on the left.  I used Mind's Eye Lost and Found paper and my new Sophie CC cart.  The large circular doily is from page 38.  The butterfly above the pic is the bookmark shift from page 28.  I used my Gypsy to cut out the butterfly with a square welded to the bottom so it would stick behind pic.  Then if I wanted I could add  journaling.  "Precious" came from Kate's ABC.  I cut it apart and then curved it along shape.  I cut out "So" from Kate's ABC font.  Flowers are Prima  that I had in my stash that were just the right color.   The little chair my grandbaby is sitting on in the bottom photo is actually one for a stuffed bear.

I then took the same pictures and made a layout for my daughter's album.  I used the "So" and "Precious again.  The paper this time is from DCWV Whimsical stack.  The Paisley on the paper reminded me of some Paisley ribbon  from my stash and I used a large gem flourish I had.   I cut it  in 1/2 and added 1/2 to each layout page.  I also folded some ribbon and attached with brads.  This layout is for the Frosted Design layout challenge which was to use flourishes and Amanda's Crafts and More  challenge "All Tied Up" which was to use twine, floss or ribbon.   Four more pages done and so many more to go.

Spotlight Designer at FCCB, Featured layout at Lasting Memories and a new layout with Kate's ABC

I am so excited that today I am the Spotlighted Designer at Fantbulous Cricut ,  I am a new designer for their great blog and will post my first project tomorrow for the weekly challenge.  So if you would like to read a little more about me stop on by and then come back tomorrow to see the new challenge and my first post.
Also I recently found the blog  Lasting Memories which does layout challenges. I am always trying to get layouts done so  I entered my butterfly layout and  my layout was featured  yesterday .  Thanks Lasting Memories for the feature,
This is another layout I completed this weekend using Kate's ABC.  I adore this cart for layouts of my granddaughters.    Much of the paper is from the DCWV stack Whimsy except for background paper.  I am hoping to hit Joanns up today on their new sale  for a large stack of this as it is so cute for little girls,

I am entering this layout at
The Paper Variety Tic Tac ToeChallenge,.  I used  faux stitching, multi photo layout  and journal strips and also Cooking with Cricut challenge was to use a bunny,

Three challenges in one card

I made this card today for several challenges.  Since I have become addicted to challenges I decided to do 3 in one because I need to keep working on my scrapbook pages.
So for Paper Playtime you were to use a charm- pink heart attached by pink safety pin to ribbon.
For the Craft Spot you were to make a shape card.  I used Elegant Edges page 69 cut at 5 inches.  I cut the front and back piece and then two shadow cuts.
for the Shappy Team Room you were to make something for a baby.
I used Kate's ABC and cut those adorable little shoes at 2 1/2 inches.
Stamped sentiment and hung it from safety pin also, chalked the edges,  and added pearls.
So I covered all three challenges and have a card for my daughter's baby shower in June.

BBTB2 challenge- Use an egg from Easter 2010 cart

I made this card today for the BBTB2 challenge to use the egg from the Easter 2010 cart or another cart.  I used the Easter 2010 egg and scalloped egg.  I used my Gypsy to weld the front and back together and to make a window in the front.  I used double sided pastel paper.  I then cut out flowers from Mother's Day Bouquet for the top, Happy Easter which is glued to inside but shows through to front, and one of the cute scenes from Katie's ABC.  Edges are chalked and added ribbon and pearls.

Create a Book Blog Hop

Welcome to the Make a Book Blog Hop in celebration of Read Across America and Dr. Seuss’ birthday.   I am very excited to be participating in my first Blog Hop and thought that Joy of Joy’s Life had a great idea.  As a teacher for 33 years who just retired this last year I spent many a March 2nd dressed as Cat in the Hat and made many books with my students.  So first of all thank you all for joining us in this Blog Hop and thank you Joy for allowing me the opportunity to participate in this Hop with many other talented ladies.  If you wish to start at the beginning of the Blog Hop please go to  joyslife.com
To thank you for coming by to look and hopefully becoming a follower I have some Blog Candy to celebrate Dr. Seuss and Read Across America as well as scrapping supplies.  Please leave a comment between now and March 10 (which is my birthday) and I will do a random drawing to choose one lucky winner.  The Blog Candy is Dr. Seuss foam stickers, two packs of regular stickers, Fiskar Wishes All Around Stampset, and Sweet Nectar paper pad by K and Co.  Good luck and don’t forget I love followers.

Being very excited I actually made two books.  I will share the first one today and the 2nd one tomorrow.  I decided to make a book in celebration of my two precious granddaughters  (a third is due in July.)  I also wanted to use my new cartridge Kate’s ABC which I think is so adorable.   I learned to make this book at my local LSS awhile back.  It is called a dollhouse book or a square –around mini album and is made from 4 sheets of full size scrapbook paper.  The fun thing is you can set it out and tie it open to   view all the little rooms.  Once you learn how to make these they are quick to put together and can be made for holidays, birthdays, births or any other event.   Here is a link I found online of the directions for making the book. http://www.making-mini-scrapbooks.com/square-around-mini-album.html There is a picture of each view, open, closed, each room, both sides of the tags, and a closeup.  Remember you can click on the pictures to enlarge them.

The little girls  are from Kate’s ABC and were cut at 4 inches.  The phrases are from Kate’s ABC except for Precious and My Girl which is from Once Upon a Princess.   The flowers are the front are from  Mother’s Day Bouquet the scalloped circle.  These were cut at 2”, 13/4 ”, and 1 ¼”.  They were then scrunched up, inked with Tim Holtz distress ink,  glued and then sprayed with Crushed Shell Glimmer Mist.   The tags were made from Tags, Bags and More at 5 inches.  On the back of each tag is a poem I found on the internet about little girls.  The bottom triangles were left empty to put pictures on.  I also used chalk, buttons, Making Memories metal sign,  Inkadinkadoo stamp from Michaels, other embellishments and the DCVW Be Mine Stack.  As you can see this stack is very
vintage and not just for Valentine’s Day.

Again thank you for joining the Blog Hop and looking at my project.  Please come back tomorrow and I will be sharing another book that is made from chipboard  and  can be used for any theme.   The one I will be sharing will be an Easter book.  Here is a preview of the front cover.  .
