Playtime Layout using Christmas carts and update

Update: I am still staying with my daughter to help with new granddaughter who is  5 days old. Remember all comments this month go in a drawing till the end July for a $25 gift certificate to M's or J's in celebration of my 6 month blogaversary.

This is my project for the Sweet Sassy Diva Design Team today.  

I am  sharing with you today a layout I did with Christmas Solutions and Jolly Holidays.  I  had a hard time starting with this challenge that Bobbi Jo gave us.  I do love trying to use Cricut cart cuts in a different way. This idea came to me as I am trying to get a bunch of layouts done for pics of my wonderful granddaughters.   Here is the pictures of the two page layout I came up with starting with the toys.  The paper is from Water Colors by K and company which is a double sided stack I recently bought at Michaels.  

  

The banner is cut from Jolly Holidays at 5.24 on my Gypsy.  I then used my Gypsy to hid the letters on the inside cuts which spelled NOEL.  I then used font and shadow from Plantin cut at 1.25  to spell out PLAYTIME.  The picture on the right is the plain cuts and the right side is with faux stitches on letters.  

I then used the Christmas Solutions cart to cut out the bear and doll at 3 inches and the horse at 4 inches. The little girl is cut at 4 inches from Jolly Holidays and I hid the face and used a Peachy Keen stamp for the face.  I cut off the mittens and used the doll arms cut at 4 inches for her hands.  

I showed the cuts plain and then with Sharpie accents.   

I then decided to make what I call Lollipop flowers which are made from various size circles.  I cut out ornament shapes from the Christmas cart at 2.5, 2.0. 1.75, 1.5 and 1.0  and then trimmed to circles.  Next I layered them alternating paper (double sided) and punched with my Crop-a-dile and added brads for centers.  

I then added photo layout squares 5 x 5 and punched corners with a MS punch.

Iris folding class at LSS

On Saturday morning I was able to go to the Iris Folding Class at my local LSS.  I have been wanting to try this and really enjoyed it.  I made 5 cards in the 3 hours.  The teacher uses her Design Studio to make the shapes and cut out the words.  It is a lot of fun and really not hard if you can follow numbers.   After that I went to visit new grandbaby,  We were able to bring everyone home from hospital that afternoon.  I am staying with them for about 5 days to help.  Trying to help with baby and keep 18 month old occupied. LOL  

I am a grammy again!!!!!!!!!

Granddaughter # 3 arrived this morning at 1 :18.  I had stayed 4 days at daughters while she was on bed rest.  I came home yesterday for a few short hours and got the call that daughter was in labor.  So back I went. My other daughter and I got to the hospital with just a little over an hour to spare.  Everything went great and mom popped her out after only 6 minutes of pushing.  Yes I am totally serious!!!!!  She looks just like her sister, who is 18 months old., when she was born. Katie is already kissing her and trying to feed her a bottle.   I  am so blessed and thankful all went well.  

Blogaversary 6 months, 250 followers and Blog Candy- Check it out!

I  just want to  thank you all for your support and for following my blog.  I started this blog 6 months ago thanks to a little pushing from some Cricut messageboard friends.  I have had nothing but fun,  have learned so much and gained so many new friends.  I appreciate all my followers which yesterday reached 250 on my actual 6 month blogaversary.  So thank you so much for your comments, for following me and for your support.  It means so much to me and spurs me on to keep creating.

Hawaiian shirt birthday card for hubby

This is the card I made for the Cricut Cardz Challenge which is to make something with summer apparel or accessories.  I chose the Hawaiian shirt from Pack Your Bags to make a card for my hubs birthday.   My husband loves to wear Hawaiian shirts so I chose some paper that is similar to the colors he likes.  I used a  MS punch with shells and sand dollars  on the side and corners.  I chalked the edges and added little buttons.

Here is a card I made today for two Christmas Challenges.  I used Ornamental Iron for the gate cut in gold paper with the shadow cut in dark green.  I used gold braiding and some amber bling and gold ribbon.  The wreath and garland are made from the MS branch punch and punched in 5 different colors of green to give it texture.
