Dr Seuss on the loose

These are some pics I took for my granddaughters pajama day at school when they were celebrating Dr. Seuss.  The kids all looked so cute with their hats on and jammies.  My granddaughter loved the green eggs and ham.
The first pic on the page is  Kenzie and brother Micah in my felt Cat in the Hat hats, ties, and gloves from my teaching days.  The last is them sleeping on the couch after a long day at school and Kenzie is still wearing her hat.
The paper I collected over the years so it was in my stash.

Shhh baby sleeping

It is fun to go back and scrapbook these adorable pics
of my grandson when he was a sweet sleepy little baby.
He is now a climbing, running, jumping 2 1/2 year old who is always getting into something.
I used a wonderful sketch from Nanne at Stuck on you Sketches.
The paper is a combination of papers from my stash.  I think most of it is old K and Company.
I like that the sketch is for 4 pictures.
It's hard too get a picture of the muted colors but they really are pretty together.

Here is the great sketch from Nanne.  This challenge is open till May 7th at

Choose Joy layout

I used a sketch from Let's Get Sketchy week 4
for this fun layout of my two grandaughters Katie and Brittany.
I used paper from  Hey Kid Pink Paislee, Washii tape and some embellishments from the
$1 section at Michaels.  Great way to use up some scraps.
I added a 5 and 3 sticker for their ages and inked the paper.

This is the great sketch from Let's Get Sketchy week 4

Happy happy Birthday and trying something new

Today I saw that  Shop Our Stash was having an Opposite's Day Challenge.  You are asked to
make something that's opposite your usual style
As a lot of you my style varies  I like simple and clean with a lot of pictures but I have been working on layers and textures and one picture on a page, etc.
So I wasn't sure what I would do but then I remember a sketch I saw on Let's Capture Our Memories.  When I saw it I thought hmmmm I've never done anything like this and wasn't sure I would tackle it.  So I thought I would give it a try.  My photos are almost always 4 x 6 or 2 x 3 rectangles or maybe squares once in awhile.
I hunted through pictures to find something that would work to punch out with a hole punch and found this cute stack of birthday paper.
I added some letters for the title and made smaller punched circles of cupcakes.
I cut out the 3 to represent Brittanys third birthday.
Another think I did which was new is I see people with circles around there pictures to highlight one and I'm not sure how they do it but I did mine with Stickles.
Now that I have tried it I really like this layout and method of
punching out pics and would try it again.

This is the sketch I used from Let's Capture Our Memories  Sketch 121
Going to keep this sketch and try it again.

Sandy Toes and Sun Kissed Nose

For this layout of my granddaughter Kenzie I used Kaisercraft Sandy Toes paper and embellishments.  We are so lucky to live in California in a beach town.  Here we are actually at a restaurant a little north from us that has a huge sand  place with toys for the kids so you can enjoy your lunch.
The kids had so much fun there and we had a yummy lunch.

I am entering this in the Sketches in Thyme week 4 #146
challenge.  This was a great sketch to finish off my pictures of this day.

Cheese for 2 layout

I created this layout with a sketch from Let's Capture Our Memories.
The paper I used is older paper from Quick Quotes.  I love the bright colors they use in their paper.
The quote is also from Quick Quotes.  The letters are glitter Thickers and the buttons are from my stash.  I inked the edges with blue ink and used Washi tape from my stash .
Instead of stars I used hexagon punched pieces and pop dotted them on the page.

The picture is of my grandkids Kenzie and Micah.  One afternoon when I was taking care of them they wanted string cheese but there was only one left.  So this was there solution when I told them they would have to share it.  Kids do the darndest things.

I am linking this to Let's Capture Our Memories Sketch 119

True Love with Kaisercraft XO Collection

I created this layout of my sweet granddaughter Brittany with Kaisercraft XO paper.
This was made with leftover pieces of a kit I got at Frosted Designs.
I used Glimmer Mist and a stencil that had a lace pattern on the flowered background.
The flowers are from Prima and the crocheted rose with pearl from my stash.
I am linking this layout up to the Sketch N Scrap
Twistback Thursday- Masking Challenge.

Lasting Memories "Gratitude" challenge

This month (we are starting a little early the challenges will be about "Life Affirmations."
The first challenge starting today is Gratitude.  Someone or Something you have gratitude for.
I knew right away that the thing I am most thankful for is time with my grandchildren.
These photos are of my grandkids Kenzie 4 and Micah 2 1/2 who I care for on a daily basis why their parents at work.  On this day we got to spend time at a local beach grill that has a huge sand lot for kids to play in .  They loved it and we had such a fun day.

The paper I used for this is Kaisercraft Sandy Toes which I cut, distressed and inked.
I added a few of the cute embellishments and a doily which I inked.
I also used this sketch from Sketch N Scrap #79
I loved the strips of color and that there were multiple photo spots.

Easter banner layout

I did this Easter page using Doodlebug Springtime paper and the
 sketch below from Stuck ?!
For some of the stripes I used thin washi tape.
For the circles, on the sketch, I added flower shaped buttons, threaded with Wonder thread.
The title banner was cut using a file from Silhouette America.

Here is the cute sketch from Lori Whitaker.

Easter butterflies layout

There is a little story behind the page that I still need to get written down on the journal piece.
The first picture is of my 4 year old granddaughter Kenzie getting her Easter eggs ready for her class Easter Egg Hunt on the last day of school before Spring Break.  Little did we know that she was going to get sick that night with the stomach flu.  So the second day she is watching out the window as her little brother leaves for school broken hearted not to be able to go to school.
Her teachers were great and made her a nice little collection of eggs and goodies and sent it home with us but still so sad.
Well as you can image brother was sick two days later on Good Friday and mom and dad were down for the count on Easter morning.  So Kenzie got her new Easter (Frozen) dress on and went to church with Grammy and Grandpa.
I managed to last a week and just when I thought it was gone I got the stomach bug.

The layout is done with Doodlebug Springtime and Washi tape from my stash.
I also punched a flower border and butterflies with Martha Stewart punches.
I used the sketch from Let's Capture our Memories so I am linking it up there.
The sketch is by Shirley and such a cute one.

Book Club for kids layout

On Tuesdays I take my two grandkids to Barnes and Noble for storytime.  Since mommy and I go to book club once a month we call it Book Club.
For the first page I used a little mini kit that included embellishments and paper for an 8 x 8 page.
I added tags, punched paper, and ribbon.
I am entering this in the Lets' Capture Moments  #117 challenge.
This is the sketch by Shirley.
This is the second page of the double page layout.

The peeps Easter Egg hunting

This is one of the Easter layouts I did over the weekend with the sketch from
The pictures are of my granddaughters Katie and Brittany
at several Easter Egg hunts they attended.
I used Doodlebug Springtime paper, doilies from my hoarding( I love colored doilies),
and little crocheted flowers.
I punched the bottom with a Martha Stewart punch.
The title I did with my Silhouette.

Wet N Wild learning to swim

It's so fun when you clean your scrapbook room and find all these goodies that you forgot you had.
This paper (sorry I can't remember the company) I got almost a year ago.  In Southern California we have a Shop Hop every year where you can go to about 20 stores for discounts, prizes, etc.  A group of us traveled in a van for two days checking out stores.  Needles to say I bought tons of stuff and some of it got buried in my room.  Perfect for this great pic of grandson Micah swimming with Papa. I am entering this in three  challenges
For the first time I am entering a layout at Scrap the Boys.  I found this blog through another scrapper and thought it would be fun since I finally have a grandson to scrap.
For the challenge they wanted us to use the mood board.
I liked the blues, tans, and whites, and the water picture.  Also the honeycomb background paper reminded me of the picture in the circle.
...
Next  I used this awesome sketch by Nanne at Stuck on you Sketch for April 10.
Great sketch with lots of interesting components.
I am also entering this at  Use Your Stuff .
This week the challenge is anything goes but I am sticking
to using something I haven't bought recently.
Hope you enjoyed my layout.

I Scream You Scream for Ice Cream

This is the double page I am entering for the Aptil Double Stick it Down
Challenge.  I love double page challenges and sketches for multiple photos.
These are actually photos from last week of my grandkids having ice cream.
Some of the pics are from free cone day at Ben and Jerrys.
The rest are from a yogurt place.

Here is the sketch
Here photos of each page.  The paper is Authentique paper I got a year or so ago.

I'm a Big Boy Now Layout

I chose a sketch from  Sketches in Thyme Week 3   for this layout.  I had these three cut pics of my grandson Micah potty training.  He is just barely 2 1/2 and he has done so well.  I always heard boys would be harder to potty train but he did a lot of it on his own.
The paper I had in my stash.
Here is the sketch I used
I am also entering this at the
Stuck on You Sketches Die Cut Challenge
Industrial Die Cut
I added the gears I cut out from Silhouette America  for the circles on the sketch
but I think a toiletis about as industrial as you can get.  LOL

You Color My World layout with Splatters

I decided  to scrapbook these pictures of my granddaughter  Kenzie using her watercolors for the Frosted Design Splatter Challenge.
I was going to use watercolors for the splatters but couldn't find them so then decided to use Alcohol Inks.  I haven't had them out for awhile and boy did I make a mess on my hands and my work space.
I had splatters everywhere.
I  found some paper in a stack  by Colorbox  recently that was great bold colors and some of the pages even reminded me of kids scribbles.  (See the orange pink paper and green lt green piece.
I am using the sketch below from My Scraps N More Sketches.
The stitching was done with watercolor markers and a ruler by hand.
The title is a print and cut from Silhouette America.
This lovely sketch is by Nicole Nowosad at My Scraps N More Sketches
I wasn't very happy at first with the mess I made but happy with the result.

Lasting Memories Challenge-Family Travel Traditions

This week at Lasting Memories  the challenge is Family Travel Traditions.
I looked through my pictures and found the only place I have been lately is
Disneyland with the grandkids.
I liked the quote on the card that says 'always believe something wonderful is going to happen.
That's the way we are when we go to Disney.  It's all about the grandkids, having a good time and going with the flow.  My daughter and son in law got passes the past year and this year they got me a pass to include me in all the fun.  I love going with them.
What is better than seeing the amazing faces of the grandkids.
These pics are from our three day trip over New Years Eve and New Years Day.
I hope you will join us for the challenges at Lasting Memories.  Remember there is a new challenge every Sunday and you have the entire month to complete all the challenges.  So for this week
we want to see your Family Travel Traditions

Happily ever after starts here

I was inspired by the sketch and inspiration photo at Scrap out Stash Challenge #25 for this layout.
For the challenge you are to
Create a layout inspired by our April Sketch...
AND...the inspiration photo below.
(You are allowed to choose from the colors, shapes, sayings, etc...your choice.

The April sketch created by Laura Whitaker:
Here is the photo inspiration
The first thing that caught my attention was This is so the Happy Place sign.
Disneyland is definitely our Happy Place so I went through some pics of a recent trip.
I used the sign Happily ever after starts here to mirror the happy place sign.
I decided on this adorable pic of my grandson Micah, who is 2, with Ana from Frozen.  I love the dreamy look of his face.  He is so delighted when he meets the characters.
I selected the Simple Stories Enchanted Collection because of the colors in the inspirations photo- the pinks, white, green, yellow, light blue and purple.  I used the stripes, dots and chevrons because I found these on the inspiration photo also.
I challenged myself to use the princess inspired paper but to not make it too girly.
I am happy the way it turned out although because the colors are muted its hard to show its true beauty.  Hope you enjoyed my layout.

Fabulous day at the park layout

This is a layout I did using the Sketches in Thyme sketch for Week 2.  I love sketches that have space for more than one photo as like most of us I have so many pics of grandkids to scrap.
I decided to combine this with the
Shop our Stash challenge. This week the theme is Lost & Found, and they would like you to use something you've recently re-discovered in your craft room. I thought this was a great challenge as I cleaned my scrapbook room a couple weeks ago and found lots of great goodies.

One thing I found was a stash of Quick Quotes paper that I had from 2011. ( I looked it up to see how old it was.) I love the bold bright colors of Quick Quotes.  This one was called Savy Davy.
I took a couple Quick Quotes classes at a Scrapbook Expo and this was some of leftover pieces from a class I took.  I thought it was great colors for these pics of grandkids ( and my husband) at the park one day.  I inked all the pieces in Marschino Cherry Powder Puff Quick Quotes Ink.  I found some more paper by this company so will be making more layouts from this lost stash.

Last Julie Nutting doll tag class- Vintage Dolls!

Tomorrow is the last Julie Nutting doll stamp class at Busy Bees Studio in Newbury Park, California.  I created these three tags for the ladies to make using three new doll stamps since CHA 2015.  I fell in love with them right away as I love vintage clothing.

Jeanne is sophisticated in vintage pink, cream and tan.
Paper is an old stack of Paper and Lace from DCWV.

Ruby is sassy in teal, cream and tan.  Love the new beads you can buy from Prima.
Paper is from an old stack of DCWV and a MS punch

And for young Tommy I used a Nautical theme using Graphic 45 By the Sea Paper.
Ship wheel file from Silhouette America.

I believe there are several kits available if anyone is interested.

Love layout for Sketch N Scrap #78

I almost forgot to post this page I did last weekend.  Between my back being out for over a week and then the stomach flu running through our family things have been crazy.
This is a layout of my granddaughter Brittany at a Valentine's day party at the park.
The paper is Kaisercraft XO collection.
I am entering this in the sketch challenge at Sketch N Scrap #78,
Here is the sketch by Lisa Hildy at Sketch N Scrap.

Forget taxes its time for a new Let's Scrap Challenge

It's April 15th, but lets not think of about taxes- let's think about the new challenge at Let's Scrap.
My layout is entitled Rain rainbows.
I used Doodlebug Springtime Collection for my papers.
The cutting files for the  title, clouds and umbrella are from Silhouette America.

This is the sketch for the challenge from Michelle van Wyk for Let's Scrap.

The rainbow is made by baking Perler beads in the oven.
I cover the cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay the beads out.
I cook them at 350 degrees for 30 minutes until they flatten out.
These beads are made for cooking in your oven and are not the same as the pony beads you have seen warnings about baking as they admit fumes.
I glued them with a strong white glue.
I am also entering this in the
I love the bold Spring colors on this one.
I am also entering this in the Use your Stuff Spring Blog Hop.
Check out the great  fun  projects the DT made for Spring.
