Life is a Beach Showcase for CWC

Hi this is Suzanne from Cricut Craftin Grammy with your Life's A Beach Showcase for Cooling with Cricut.   Being Summer has just begun I thought it was a great time to look at an older cartridge "Life's a Beach".  I love this cartridge and have gotten a lot of use out of it.  Not only because we live in California in a beach town, but for fun events, cards, layouts and gifts.   Life's a Beach includes layers, title words, borders, photo card, square cards and charms.
For this card I used the square card  page 81 and the  charm feature page 64.
I colored the sandles with my Spectrum markers and stuck the charm to the card with a fish brad.
Ribbon was from my stash and the simple moments was in a sticker set.

Inside left blank to feel in later.

This project is one of my pride and joys.  I made this for my daughter's bridal shower.  The palm tree branches were cut from Life's A Beach  page 40.

Layout using border from page 67 welded together.  Then added some cuts from A Child' Year.

This is my double page layout that was posted yesterday at CWC.
The cuts and letters are all from Life's A Beach.

Pineapple cut welded to card shape from page 48

Layout Sanddollars from Lifes a Beach
Sand dollar and shells Life's A Beach
Gift pails buckets and shovel tags cut from 60
Palm leaves page 38 and letters from cart
Folding gift boxes using cuts from LAB.
Card using wave page 45 and flip flops page 64.

I hope you have enjoyed this fun look at "Life's a Beach" and can see what a great cartridge this is.
I hope you have enjoyed the showcase and find it helpful. Remember to come again to CWC and watch for more Cricut cartridge showcases.   Happy Craftin!

Child' Play Challenge- Sidewalk Chalk

I completed another challenge for Child's Play.  This one is using Sidewalk Chalk as the influence for your layout.  I knew right away I had some great pictures of my two oldest granddaughters that would be perfect for the layout.  I used black for the background and cut the cute little girl using her easel out of A Child's Year.  The letters are Tim Holtz chipboard letters and I inked them with Quick Quotes inks of various colors and then added three Sharpie pen dots.  In the center I used an actual chalkboard shape that I got last year in the Michael's $1 section.
The tie dye paper is from Joanns.
The little quote I cut out from some quotes and it says
"There are no mistakes in art."
The painter is Katie who is 27 months old.  The colors remind me of the Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.   The little chalk artist at the easel is Kenzie who is 19 months old.

Time for the BBTB2 Patriotic Challenge

Now that Summer is upon us and Fourth of July is just around the corner our DT sister at Bitten by the Bug 2 Susan has challenged us to make a Patriotic Project.  I decided to work ahead on layouts and create a Patriotic layout using A Child's Year and Art Philosophy.

Here is the double page I created.
The kids with the flag is from page 46 of ACY cut at 5 inches.
The rocket cut is page 45 cut at 4 inches.
I wanted to make a banner so I cut one from  Art Philosophy at 2 and 2.25 inches for a shadow.
I then cut out Tim Holtz letters from one of his stacks to say Made in America.
Paper from K and Company last year and also used some old fashion flag and firework pieces I cut out from Tim Holtz holiday stack.  Lots of inking with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo.
I am also entering this in the Cricut Circle Weekly Challenge- Must have 3 stars and stripes on page
I hope you will join us for the Patriotic challenge.  Remember you have two weeks to link up your project to BBTB2.  You must use a Cricut cut and don't forget to let us know what you used.  Also a reminder that you have one more week to link up your birthday and pearls creations.
Hope you will join us and Happy Craftin!

FCCB Time for a hot dog or hamburger challenge

I totally got my DT challenges mixed up this week.  I had two DT's doing similar challenges and I did not realize until last night that I already posted the hamburger card on another DT.  Too late to do another project so I am still posting the hamburger for the FCCB Hamburger/Hotdog challenge and also a hotdog and ketchup card I did.  I used Simply Charmed for the first two cards and Block Party for the ketchup card. and paper from my scraps.  Faces were all Peachy Keen and I added Glossy Accents and various twine, ribbon, embossing and rick rack.
I hope you will join us this week at FCCB for the hotdog/hamburger challenge.  We would love to see what you create and link up.. Happy Craftin!

If you have come from Larelyn at Handmade from the Heart, then you are moving along. If you would like to start from the beginning, please head over to CookingWithCricut.com

This month our hop theme is all about Birthdays and one special one in mind. Our wonderful DT Coordinator Jen Hudson’s birthday just happened to fall on Saturday so we decided to make birthday inspired projects with a “Jen” theme in mind. Our go to gal is a die-hard Florida Gator Fan. So we decided to use elements on our projects that reflected Our GATOR FOR LIFE Gal’s FANCY;  Florida, The Florida Gators and anything that would make you think of the Sunshine State. Jen is the last on our blog line up so be sure to hop through and leave her some extra special love at the end!

So a big warm gator birthday wish Jen. Hope you have an awesome birthday
and thanks for all you do for Cooking with Cricut.
Gator (and people) hugs too.
I used this cute little alligator from Twinkle Toes cut at 5 inches and embossed.
The banner was cut from Everyday Pop Up at 3 inches long.
I added twine and used a tiny letter set I got at Michaels for $1 last year for the wish.
Used a MS punch and lace for the tutu.  A googly eye and gems on the bow.
Ribbon from my stash.
The inside was printed on the computer and I used the same MS punch.

Be sure to head over to CWC and leave a comment for a chance to win some great blog candy! Now on to your next stop Jen at Java Jen Creations.

Also don't forget the CWC challenge this week First Day of Summer= create s project with a BBQ or Picnic theme.

So many great challenges for a grammy that is always scrapbooking grand daughters.   There is a new challenge each week and you the entire month to complete them.  I have done three and have one more to go now.  Sure helps me keep creating with my stack of pictures.

For the Cozy Coupe challenge

I did this layout of my granddaughters playing in the back yard.  We actually have two coupes back there too but this day they were in the blue push car and the dump truck we found at the Goodwill.
The dump truck and card are from my new cart "Beep Beep" and the road is
 from "Paper Doll Everyday:
I then hand cut the little girls out and made matching hats and hair.  The faces are Peachy Keen of course with white gel pen.
The title I cut from a piece of patterened paper and says 3 on the go.  I mounted letters on cardstock for thickness and so they would pop.

More challenges- Mess What Mess Layout

After a rough week I spent a lot of time scrapbooking this past weekend.  I love the Child's Play challenges each month and one of the challenges this month is "Scrabble Game."

For this double page layout I used Graphic 45 Playtimes Past Paper.
Here is the double page layout.
On this page I put pics of my granddaughter playing with dolls, cooking and playing with her train table.  I used paper with dolly bed, stroller, and trains.  Inked with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo.
For this page I used two pics of her little Ikea table.  The first is a mess so I used scrabble sticker letters to write out Mess and then where the table is clean it says What Mess.

DCVW and Creative Scrappers Challenges

Over the weekend I worked on some challenges.  I started with the DCWV Stack-a-holic June Challenge.  Each month DCWV and Erin host a layout sketch challenge and now they have added a card sketch challenge the past few months.  I have been lucky to win several of these and since I am a DCWV stack a holic I love these challenges.  For this month I used the beautiful red, white and blue stack I bought last year called Nantucket.  This stack is full of beautiful papers.
Here is my two page layout together entitled "Cutie Pie."
Cutie is cut from Elmo and Friends Holiday.  Pie cut From My Kitchen.
This is the DCWV sketch which I used for the left page.

I then made the second page using the Creative Scrappers Sketch #213.
The rosettes were made with the Tim Holtz rosette makers.
Ribbon Michaels.

Here is the Creative Scrappers sketch

I then decided to use some of my scraps and some more paper from the stack to make my challenge card entry.  Here is the DCWV sketch for June.

Here is my card.  I made a double rosette using the Tim Holtz rosette maker and also used the rosette cut for the blue scallopped edge.  Ribbon from Michaels.

For the hamburger cut at 5 inches I used four different embossing folders to give it texture.

Used a button and twine.
Watermelon cut at 5 inches.
Used Peachy Keen Face, gel pen, Glossy Accents, ribbon, and tiny buttons.

Graduation Bouquet

Last week a family friend's son graduated from High School.  It was really fun to go to graduation as both my girls and I graduated from the same school.
My friend asked me to design something to put on his cake for his party.
I made the  graduation cap by using a styrofoam circle base and covering it with black paper.
I then cut out all these Cricut cuts and put them on kaboob skewers.
It was a big hit at the party since it was so personal- for example
He plays guitar and works at Kentucky Fried Chicken
Also he played Prince Charming in the play Cinderella ( and was awesome.)
Plus of course I made the little graduate to look like Jordan and used the school colors.
For the cuts I used 50 States, Mickey Font, A Child's Year, Gypsy Wanderings, Once Upon a Princess, Boys Will be Boys, Slumber Party, From the Kitchen, Nifty Fifties, Wrap it Up and Paper Doll Dress Up.
