Totally Tags n' ATC's- Button Theme for My Paper Crafting

We are back on  Thursdays  to explore different themes, elements, techniques or embellishments.   This week we are using  buttons  on our tags and ATC's.  There is no restriction on what tools  are used to create these tags or ATC's.    It could be a die cut machine, punches, stamps, etc.  The sky is the limit.  However if the Design Team uses Digis or SVG's they will be from Paper Crafting World.

This is my tag for this week using buttons.
I covered a tag with this cute button paper I had in my scap box.  The spool of threa, needle and thread  is cut from Kraft paper from the Disney Happily Ever After Cartridge.  The Thank You Sew Much is from Everyday Popup cartridge.
I cut off the thread part and replace it with twine which I wrapped around the spool.

My Paper Crafting- Things with Wings Challenge

February 28th is National Tooth Fairy Day so let's create a project with "wings" in honor of the wonderful little tooth fairy.

While organizing and cleaning out my paper stash I found what was left of my Graphic 45 paper from a few years back that had fairies on it. So I decided to use that and this cute little fairy cut from A Child's Year for my project. The card is 4 x 5 and matted in cream and green. The little fairy girl was cut at 3.5 inches from page 77.
I died the seam binding using Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Please join us this week for the challenge and create a project for "Things with Wings."
We love seeing your creations.  Happy Craftin!

BBTB2 Challenge-3 D Scalloped Flower from Art Philosophy

It's time for another great challenge here at BBTB2 and this week the oh so talented Susan is our hostess.
Susan has asked us to design a project using the 3D scallopped rose
from Art Philosophy or any other 3D flower.
I absolutely adore the rolled roses from Art Philosophy and use them often.
For this project I made a layout with the new Kaiser Craft collection Special Admirer.
I also used embellishments from Kaiser Craft and  pink heart doilies I got at the Dollar Store.
I also used a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page  Punch and the branch punch.
I hope you enjoyed my project as well as those by all the other designers.  Please join us this week for the challenge and link up to BBTB2.  We always love seeing all your wonderful creations.  Happy craftin!

Digi Desserts Fridaze- Cutie Patootie in Nightgown

This is my card for this week.  This was a valentine card I made for one of my granddaughters.

QT Patootie in Nightgown from Paper Crafting World
MS punch and heart gems from Doodlebugs

We would like to invite some of you to be our Guest Designers here at DDF.
Here's how it will work:
Each week the Design Team members will select one project from those that have been linked up and invite that designer to be our Guest Designer for a future post.
****To be selected as a guest designer, your Link-up project MUST USE a DIGITAL IMAGE from Paper Crafting World.****
Not only will you be invited to join us, you'll also receive a free image from PCW to use for your Guest Designer project.
We are so excited to add this new idea to our Digi Desserts Fridaze and hope you'll play along with us.  Melin will continue to provide a free digital image each week so, of course, you're welcome to use it for your Link-up project.
BUT WAIT!
We are still inviting all of you to link up your projects using any digi image.  We will continue to use Random.org to select one entry to also receive a free digital image from PCW.
Since this winner is selected randomly from all of the entries, we are asking that you limit your number of entries.  If you use a PCW image, you automatically get entered twice. If your first entry does not use a PCW image and you'd like to enter another project, we ask that you use a PCW image on the second entry.
The winner of last week's Link-Up party will be announced at the end of this post along with a link to this week's FREEdigi.

Now it's your turn to play along this week.
Just create something using a digital image and link to this post. If you use an image from PCW, you will receive 2 chances to win. If you use a PCW file, please add "PCW" after your name.

Remember, it's easy to participate in our Link Up because there's a tab on the home page that will bring you directly to this DDF page whenever you're ready to share your project.
Link Up your digital design for a chance to win a free single image from Paper Crafting World.

Here are a few guidelines:
*Must use a digital stamp image (receive 2 entries if you use a PCW image)
*Only one non-PCW entry per person - your second entry (if you choose to enter more than once)   must use an image from Paper Crafting World.
*Must be a NEW project for this Link Up; no backdated posts, please.
*Must have a link back to this post on your blog.
*Must link your project through Inlinkz and not just your blog.
Happy Craftin!

Totally Tags n' ATC's - Something new at My Paper Crafting

I am so excited that Melin and the Design Team at My Paper Crafting  are starting a new post for Thursdays Totally Tags n' ATC's. Starting today February 21 Thursdays will be  the day to explore different themes, elements, techniques or embellishments.   This week we are using ribbon on our tags and ATC's.  There is no restriction on what tools  are used to create these tags or ATC's.    It could be a die cut machine, punches, stamps, etc.  The sky is the limit.  However if the Design Team uses Digis or SVG's they will be from Paper Crafting World.

As a side note, if you don't know what an ATC card is, here is an
interesting definition from Wikepedia.
Artist trading cards (or ATCs) are miniature works of art about the same size as modern trading cards baseball cards, or 212 by 312 inches (63 mm × 89 mm),[small enough to fit inside standard card-collector pockets, sleeves or sheets.[The ATC movement developed out of the mail art movement and has its origins in Switzerland. Cards are produced in various media, including dry media (pencils, pens, markers, etc.), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc.), paper media (in the form of collage, papercuts, found objects, etc.) or even metals or cloth. The cards are usually traded or exchanged.

I will be coordinating the post for Thursday and can hardly wait to see what all the awesome Design Team members create.  I for one have not always been a big tag maker but have recently started exploring tags as a new way to express creativity, try new techniques and use my scraps.
I hope you will join us each Thursday here at My Paper Crafting for
Totally Tags n' ATC's.
So here is my project and please check out the other DT projects.

Paper- A Lady's Diary Graphic 45
Tim Holtz filmstrip
Misc, Bottle cap and stickers
Hug Snug Seam Binding (Amazon  100 yards less than $10) and Rosette
Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist- Creme de Rouge and Vintage Pink
Tim Holtz Distress Ink -Vintage Velvet

Tutorial for Dying Seam Binding
I use the Hug Snug Seam Binding that can be bought on Amazon and other sites (link above)
You can use Glimmer Mist or Inks to color the ribbon.

Place a mat or wax paper on your work surface.
For Glimmer Mist spray color on to mat and soak cut pieces of ribbon with spray until saturated.
You can add more spray if you need it.
I highly recommend plastic gloves to keep your hands clean.
To use Distress ink rub the ink until ribbon is covered.

Crumple up the ribbon and allow to dry to keep crimped look. If you need it right away you can dry with hair dryer or heat embosser but it will not be as crinkled.

Here are the ribbons I did top is cream ribbon no ink.
The next one was done with Distress ink. which is darker.
The other two are Glimmer Mist spray.

For my actual ribbon on my project I used the lighter color sprayed ribbon and then inked some with Distress Ink-hence the dark and light hues. The rose was cut from a yard I bought of the roses and lightly sprayed with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist.
It is really fun to experiment and since you get 100 yards for less than $10 it is cheap.
You can also use Alcohol Inks.

Kenzie's Birthday layouts done in Bo Bunny Surprise collection

This is the new birthday
"Surprise " Collection by Bo Bunny.  I saw this at CHA and fell in love with the bright fun colors and embellishments.  I still had pictures of my youngest granddaughter's 2nd birthday party which was the Hungry Caterpillar theme.  Here you can see Kenzie in her Hungry Caterpillar dress made by me and her brother Micah who was only one month in November in his Hungry Caterpillar costume crocheted by his mom.
Love the easy and quick banner embellishment for this one.
Everyone having fun playing and eating outside.
Check out Kenzie's cupcake hat made by mom.

Opening presents and time with papa.
Check out the caterpillar cupcakes I made and all the food which in the book.
Here is the invite I made using my Cricut, decorations, gifts for kids, and a cake closeup.
These pages took no time at all with the colorful graphics and cute embellishments.  I actually did double of each page one for me and one for my granddaughters album.

Digi Desserts Fridaze at My Paper Crafting

It's time for Digi Desserts Fridaze at My Paper Crafting.  For my project today I made a valentine card for one of my family members that loves turtles.  The digi is from Melin at Paper Crafting World and is called Turtle with Open Arms.  I added a little Valentine sticker so that the turtle is holding a banner.
Used a MS lace Punch around the page, twine and ribbon to complete the card.  Colored the digi with
my Spectrum Noir markers.  Happy Valentines Day!

My Paper Crafting I Feel the Love Challenge

This is my card for My Paper Crafting challenge this week.  This week it is the I Feel the Love Project to support our very own Madison.  This month the project is for Alana who lost her home in Hurricane Sandy in 2012.  You can read all about Alaina and the project below.

I made my card with the Imagine Word of Mouth Cartridge.  I cut the house and tree twice to pop dot and added some twine and buttons.

21 year old student Alana experienced a devastating loss as the result of Hurricane Sandy when it came to shore in October of 2012.

She lost her original home, as well as most all of her family home belongings due to this horrific storm.  These included her clothes, her bed, and the home furnishings.

When Alana returned from school she did not have a home to come back to.  She was able to stay briefly with an aunt before living in a hotel for a month.  The family was finally able to relocate to another home.

When Alana was asked how this storm impacted her she said that she was "scared for my family and for my house."  Alana was forced to stay away for a couple of weeks and she said it made her "homesick."  When Alana was able to go into the area for the first time and see that her family home had been knocked down she said, "I was in shock of what I saw.  It is something I will never forget as long as I live."

I can't imagine losing everything all at once.  That would be very difficult.  We can support Alana and her family.  Words of comfort can go a long way.  With all of the difficulties she has recently experienced, we would like to honor her as the I Feel the Love Project February 2013 recipient.

We recently had a fundraiser to raise money for the I Feel the Love Project.  So in addition to sending hand crafted greeting cards, the I Feel the Love Project will also be sending a gift card to Alana so she can buy some clothes or something for her new home.  There is no obligation or need for anyone else to do this.  It is just something we felt called to do.

If you would like to be a part of this project...

All you need to do is:

Submit your hand crafted card/s by February 28th to:

Six baby layouts of my grandson

Recently I attended a crop at my LSS and cranked out some layouts of my grandson who was born in October.  After three granddaughters and lots of pink layouts it is really fun to make blue layouts.

Pictures of the happy family

This is the layout of my daughter right before she popped.  To make it an interesting delivery she fell and broke her arm the night before she was due.  So the other pics are of her in the Emergency room.

More pics of the newborn

More to come later.

BBTB2 Challenge- "Love is in the Air" - Hearts or Cupid

Today for the challenge at BBTB2 my dear friend Brenda is challenging us all to  "Love is in the Air".  .  For your project you are to cut a cupid or heart using your Cricut.  I am really excited to share my project with you.  I made this pull out mini book for a class at the Scrapbook store that I teach at.  The paper is Authentique's Valentine paper. I loved the vintage feel of this paper and the cute little vintage graphics.  I used a stamp set I got from Close to my Heart for the 10 Things I Love about you.  I cut the different hearts and shapes from Elegant Edges and Doodle charms.  Each page has one of these shapes and a number on it so that personal things can be written on it.

I hope you will stop by each of the designers blogs to check out what they have made. Then share with us this week your Cricut projects with cupids or hearts at BBTB2.
Happy Craftin and Happy Valentines Day
